Dotonbori is a representative tourist spot in Osaka, known for its Kani Doraku and Glico signboards.
Together with the nearby areas of Namba, Shinsaibashi, and Sennichimae, is also known as Minami.
Dotonbori is lined with various kinds of restaurants, including Osaka’s gourmet foods such as takoyaki, okonomiyaki, and kushikatsu (skewered pork cutlets), and is an area that symbolizes the concept of “Kui Daore(spending extravagantly on food and drink and losing one’s property)”.
The streets are lined with eye-catching and unique three-dimensional signboards, making it a fun place just to walk around.

Dotonbori Dive
As a side note, when the Hanshin Tigers (Japan’s professional baseball team loved by Osaka people) win a championship or on Halloween, which has recently become a popular event in Japan, some people jump off the Ebisu Bridge, famous for its Glico signboard, into the Dotonbori River, commonly known as “Dotonbori Dive”.
However, some people have been injured or killed by “Dotonbori Dive” and it is a very dangerous act, so please do not do it.
