Umeshu is an alcoholic beverage made from ume (Japanese plum).
It is characterized by its sweetness and refreshing aroma, and is easy to drink even for those who do not like alcoholic beverages.
Umeshu is usually about 10% alcohol by volume and is drunk with water, hot water, carbonated water, or on the rocks.

Umeshu is made by soaking green plums which are harvested around June and sugar, in white liquor, shochu (Japanese distilled spirit), or brandy.
