Curry rice is the national dish of the Japanese people, in which curry is served over rice.
Curry originated in India, but it is believed that Japanese curry developed from English curry, which was arranged from Indian curry.

In Tokyo, many curry restaurants are in Jimbocho and the surrounding Kanda area, which has become a sacred place for curry lovers.
In addition to specialty restaurants, curry rice is available in many places in Japan, including chain beef bowl restaurants and family restaurants.

Curry rice is also eaten at home, and the ingredients for orthodox curry rice are beef or pork (the meat used varies by region), potatoes, carrots, and onions.
