Comic Market, also known as Comike or Comiket, is the world’s largest doujinshi marketplace organized by the Comic Market Committee.
A doujinshi marketplace is an event where doujinshis (Magazine that are edited and published by individuals or groups of people with the same interests) are distributed and sold.
Comiket also features exhibits by manga, anime and video game production companies, as well as many cosplayers, making the event seem like a festival during its duration.
Comic Market 100 held at Tokyo Big Sight
The first Comiket was held in 1975, and the 100th Comiket was held at Tokyo Big Sight (the largest international exhibition center in Japan) in August 2022.
As Usual, the event is held twice a year, in August and December, and has attracted as many as 750,000 visitors over a four-day period.
