The Sumida River Fireworks Festival is held along the Sumida River, which straddles the Taito and Sumida cities of Tokyo, and is one of the most popular fireworks festivals in Tokyo.
The Sumida River Fireworks Festival has two launching sites so that more people can enjoy the fireworks.

The Sumida River Fireworks Festival has one of the longest histories and traditions in the Kanto region, originating from the Ryogoku Kawabiraki (Ryogoku River Festival) held in 1733 as a memorial service for the dead and to pray for the elimination of disasters caused by a great famine and epidemic in Edo (present-day Tokyo).

The 2023 event will be held for the first time in four years, so please be aware that the surrounding area is expected to be extremely crowded than in previous years.
