Osaka is the third most populous prefecture in Japan with approximately 8.8 million people and is the economic and transportation hub of the Kinki region. It was also the economic center of Japan during the Edo period (1603-1868).
Osaka’s prefectural capital city is Osaka City.
Osaka is well known as a tourist destination, with spots such as Osaka Castle, Dotonbori and Sinsekai, one of Osaka’s most popular shopping district, and Universal Studios Japan. The city is also set to host an international exposition in 2025.

Osaka is very accessible from Tokyo, as it takes only 2.5 hours from Tokyo Station by Shinkansen(The Japanese bullet trains) and 1hour and 20 minutes from Haneda Airport(Tokyo) by plane.
The prefecture is also a good tourist base for Kansai travel, as you can reach Kyoto, Nara, and Hyogo in about 30 minutes-1 hour by train.
