Shochu is a type of Japanese distilled spirit.
It is made from barley, sweet potato, rice, brown sugar, buckwheat, and other ingredients.
Shochu is also called ** Shochu (Example: Mugi(Barley) Shochu, Imo(Sweet potato) Shochu), depending on the ingredients used.
Shochu is available throughout Japan, but it is especially produced and consumed in Kyushu District and Okinawa prefectures, and Kyushu District is said to be the home of shochu.

Shochu’s alcohol percentage is generally between 20-25%. Because of its relatively high alcohol percentage, shochu is generally drunk with water, hot water, or on the rocks, rather than on its own.
